Ya’ll. We had such an action and fun-filled weekend.  So fun, in fact, that I’m going to start it off on Thursday.

Just like college, except for I worked on Friday.

Because there was no working on Friday when I was in college. I somehow arranged my class schedule to make sure that I didn’t have class on Friday. Or if I did, it was 1 class at 10 am. The best of which was my PE class.  I spent that hour on Friday mornings walking on the treadmill and watching The View. Or laying on the ab mats.  And by working out I mean talking with my friends and mostly hiding from the instructor.

It was all very taxing. Thanks for paying for my private school education, mom and dad.

Anyway, back to Thursday.  We went to On the Lawn to say hi to our friends at the OKC Moms Blog and enjoy the sunshine!

Ya’ll.  If you are local, you need to go to this.  It’s the first Thursday of every month and so. much. fun. Food trucks: check. Beer tent: check.  Moon bounce: check.

Also yard games.  This giant connect 4 game caught G’s eye for whatever reason but I also spotted giant jenga, putt-putt…and I’m sure I’m missing some others.

Good times were had by all and we will be back every month.  It was really, really great.  I cannot overstate this.

Friday night we went to a new restaurant in town with sweet friends and had quite the experience.  I discovered that I am a fan of a curry and our friends discovered that you can send a steak back 2 times and the third one will still arrive woefully overcooked.

It would have been comical except, dangit, we all wanted to love this restaurant!  To the management’s credit, they handled it perfectly.  They comp’d our friends’ meal and gave us a free dessert.

All that to say – if you find yourself at Covell Park, order the salmon curry and the chocolate torte.  Avoid the steak.  I’m a bad blogger and didn’t get a picture of my meal because I was also holding a squirmy toddler on my lap but it was REALLY good. And even better were friends that were willing to meet us for a meal at our senior citizen approved dinner time so we could spend time together.

I have no segway because it’s now 11:11 p.m. (make a wish!) so let’s just move on to Easter, shall we?

This was G’s first Easter where she could be actively involved in an egg hunt and I was so excited.

Last year was more passive participation.

Not one child found that egg, by the way.  She made for a good hiding spot.

So here’s what I learned when it comes to an egg hunt for children aged 0-3 (our designated zone):

No need for the countdown, folks, the start to this particular event is like NSYNC’s comeback a few years ago. Lotta hype.  Kinda meh.

I tried to walk with her to the eggs and then quickly realized that we would spend 45 minutes cajoling her towards an egg. So I just carried her to a plot of grass and let her have at it.

The egg hunting itself was pretty adorable.

She mostly sat to hunt her eggs. Like a lady. We actually spent a good amount of time casually tossing eggs at her while she was more interested in picking at the grass.  Who can blame her?  That’s basically how I spent my lackluster baseball career as a small child.

And come to think of it, she has a mother who passed her college PE class by laying on the ab mats and texting. This just comes by her naturally.  Why walk around and hunt eggs when your parents and grandparents will toss/kick them all toward you?

She’s smarter than all of us, that G.
